What does it mean to think logically?

An introduction to PHILOSOPHY

A series of seminars running through 2004 and 2005.

Key features of this course include:

  • truth and validity;

  • development of one's problem solving and decision making skills;

  • how to identify dishonest tricks used in arguments;

  • examination of the methods of organisations and individuals that wish to influence us;

  • how to think clearly and independently;

  • can logic tell us what is right and what is wrong?

This course requires no previous experience in philosophy or logic and is intended for those that wish to improve their reasoning skills. All that is required is an open and inquiring mind. During the course we will examine examples of muddled or illogical arguments that are commonly used in contemporary society.
